The staged reading will commence at 11am. Speakers in the afternoon symposium will include Professor Tiffany Stern, Professor Katherine Duncan-Jones and Professor Sir Brian Vickers. Please see below for the full programme.

10.30-11.00am: Registration

11.00am-1.00pm:  Staged Reading of King Leir

1.00-2.00pm: Lunch

2.05-2.15pm: Welcome on behalf of the Malone Society by Lucy Munro (King’s College London)

2.15-3.00pm:  Roundtable discussion of King Leir and its effect in performance by Richard Proudfoot, Brian McMahon and Emma Whipday. Chair: Professor Katherine Duncan-Jones (Somerville College, Oxford)

3.00-3.45pm: Discussion of the play and its relationship to Shakespeare’s King Lear led by Professor Tiffany Stern (University College, Oxford). Chair: Professor Laurie Maguire (Magdalen College, Oxford)

3.45-4.15pm: Tea break

4.15-5.00pm: General discussion

5.00-5.15pm: Closing remarks

5.30-6.30pm: Supplementary item: Presentation by Sir Brian Vickers on the authorship of King Leir (in Flora Anderson Hall, Somerville College). Chair: Professor Katherine Duncan-Jones (Somerville College, Oxford)
