The Society’s edition is a diplomatic transcript of the surviving MS (British Library, MS Harley 7650), a scribal copy of an earlier state of the text than the printed edition of 1649. The scribe was also responsible for the surviving MS of James Shirley’s The Court Secret. The MS has been corrected by the author and contains an addition in the hand of John Rolleston, his secretary.
