Bequests and Gifts

Helping The Malone Society to Survive and Thrive

As an independent charity, the Society receives no government funding and we are reliant in the main on membership fees, royalties from sales of our volumes and some interest from investments. Students of literature, humanities scholars in all fields, librarians and all book-lovers, amateurs and professionals, benefit from the Society’s activities.

The costs of running the Society, involving an annual publication, plus offering research opportunities, prizes, fellowships and financial support of dramatic events and conferences, substantially exceed our income. To meet these commitments and secure the Society for future generations we must look beyond normal avenues of income, towards legacies and gifts, to help continue our work.

Donations

You can add a donation to support the work of the Society when you purchase a new membership, membership renewal or book through our online shop. A donation button appears on the cart page, and you can enter any amount. If you would like to make a stand-alone donation, please contact our Website Officer, Prof. Lucy Munro, at lucy.munro@kcl.ac.uk.

Remember the Society in Your Will

If the Malone Society and what it represents are important to you, we hope you will consider including a gift to us in your will.

By making a bequest to the Malone Society you will make a very real difference to securing the Society’s future and supporting its long-term aspirations. As a result of your generosity we will be able to continue publishing early plays and collections and reproducing original manuscripts, enhanced by outstanding and meticulous scholarship, thus ensuring that they are accessible in perpetuity.

The Malone Society is a Registered Charity (no. 1027048) and bequests normally attract inheritance tax benefits. Bequests to the Society can be made in your will by including its name and registered charity number, and they may take the form of: a specified sum of money; the residue of your estate or a percentage of the residue of your estate.

Bequests and / or immediate pecuniary gifts of any size are welcome. Should you wish to support a specific aspect of our work, your instructions will be followed. If you choose not to specify how the bequest should be used, the Society will make use of it where it is most needed.
