Summary
- The bursary is a one-off sum, to be used to cover all or part of the travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs incurred during attendance at an international conference.
- There are no specific residence requirements for applicants. However, the conference to which they are applying must be international. Applications for a conference taking place in the same country in which the applicant is a resident will be rejected automatically.
- Successful candidates will be required to summarise their conference experience in a blog post on The Malone Society website and will be invited to present their paper at the Society’s Annual Conference. Successful candidates residing outside the UK may present their papers virtually.
- Successful candidates must name The Malone Society in the conference paper and in any publications arising from the conference paper.
Eligibility
- Must be an early career researcher within 8 years of their viva.
- Must have passed their viva or equivalent PhD examination.
- Must not have a substantive teaching or research position or a position through which they have access to institutional funding.
- Must be a current member of The Malone Society at the time of applying.
Applicants should complete the application form on The Malone Society website, which can be found here, and submit it by 30 September 2026.
Applications will be assessed by a panel consisting of trustees of The Malone Society. The panel will present its selected candidates to The Malone Society Council for final approval at its October Council meeting. We will inform all applicants of the outcomes of their applications by mid-November.
The panel will be unable to provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
